Employment, Accommodations, and Policies

APSE advocates for inclusive employment and provides professional development resources, webinars, and networking opportunities for transition and employment services professionals.

JAN provides free, expert guidance on workplace accommodations and employment issues related to disability. Professionals can access tools, webinars, and personalized support to help students transition into inclusive workplaces.

OSERS offers resources, grants, and policy updates to support professionals in special education and vocational rehabilitation. Their tools help educators and transition coordinators align services with IDEA requirements.

Youth.gov offers resources, toolkits, and guides for educators and counselors to help youth with disabilities build workplace readiness skills and achieve employment success.

Professional Development, Training, and Resources

Alt+Shift supports educators and related service providers with training, consultation, and access to AT resources that help learners with disabilities.

Provides information on AT products, professional development opportunities, and resources for individuals and professionals.

Incompass Michigan is a statewide group of service providers working to improve access and inclusion for people with disabilities. They provide helpful resources, training, and support for professionals who assist with jobs, skills development, and living independently. Their goal is to promote effective practices, encourage teamwork, and empower organizations, all to help people with disabilities find meaningful work and participate fully in their communities.

The IRIS Center provides evidence-based resources and professional development materials to support educators and professionals working with students with disabilities. Their modules, case studies, and instructional strategies focus on transition planning, inclusive practices, and behavior management. 

The MTSA supports professionals working with youth with disabilities as they prepare for life after school. Through training, conferences, and resources, MTSA helps improve transition planning, offering strategies and tools that ensure successful outcomes as these young individuals move into adulthood.

NTACT:C offers valuable resources and training aimed at helping young people with disabilities successfully transition into adulthood. They provide support for educators, job trainers, and professionals who work with these youth, helping them improve their programs in schools and prepare for life after graduation. NTACT:C encourages teamwork among everyone involved to help young people achieve their goals of finding jobs, furthering their education, and living independently.

PACER offers resources and training for professionals and families to support youth with disabilities in transition planning, employment, and independent living.

PEAT offers resources and training on accessible technology to prepare students with disabilities for inclusive workplaces, ensuring equitable access to technology in employment settings.

Think College is a national resource that offers Michigan-specific information on inclusive postsecondary education (IPSE) programs designed for students with intellectual disabilities. This resource provides valuable insights on how to connect students with these IPSE programs and implement effective inclusive education practices. 

ThinkWork, a project of the Institute for Community Inclusion, provides resources for person-centered employment planning and strategies for supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in achieving meaningful employment.

The Zarrow Center for Learning Enrichment promotes successful transition, self-determination, and independence for individuals with disabilities. Resources include transition assessments, self-determination curricula, and guides for fostering postsecondary education, employment, and independent living outcomes for youth with disabilities.
