K-12 Education and Special Education Support

The Arc Michigan supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities accessing inclusive education at all levels. They provide resources on postsecondary education options, including vocational training, and help understand rights to accommodations and support.

Disabilities Rights Michigan advocates for students’ rights to appropriate educational services and accommodations, including those in postsecondary settings. They offer support with disputes over accommodations, 504 Plans, and postsecondary education access for students with disabilities.

MAF offers resources, workshops, and individualized assistance for families navigating special education, IEPs, and transition planning. They provide guidance on postsecondary options and understanding accommodations and support in college.

MDE-OSE oversees K-12 special education services and provides resources on transition planning and postsecondary education preparation. They offer guidance on accommodations and certificates of completion or credentials for students with disabilities.

Postsecondary Education

AAoM provides helpful resources and support for families exploring educational opportunities for people with autism. They focus on various options, including college education and job training. They aim to assist families in understanding how college works, what accommodations are available, and how to build the necessary skills for different programs.

MTSA is dedicated to helping students with disabilities move from high school to the next steps in their lives, whether continuing their education, learning job skills, or starting a career. They offer helpful information about different education and training options and guidance on earning certifications and building valuable job skills.

Think College is a national group that offers helpful resources about college programs for people with intellectual disabilities, including those available in Michigan. They provide information on various educational opportunities after high school and help individuals find programs that offer support, inclusive learning environments, and ways to earn certifications.

Vocational Training

The Arc Michigan helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities find job training and support. They connect these individuals to resources that teach essential skills for work, provide programs to help them get employed, and advocate for better workplace conditions. Their goal is to empower these individuals to build successful careers.

The Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) helps people who are blind or have vision difficulties find jobs and gain independence. They provide personalized career advice, training to prepare for work, and support with tools that make tasks more manageable. Through various training programs and teamwork with employers, BSBP prepares individuals for jobs in the community, helping them reach their career dreams and succeed in the workforce.

Disability Network Michigan helps people with disabilities prepare for jobs by offering training programs that teach important skills, support for job searching, and guidance from mentors who can relate to their experiences. This support empowers individuals to succeed in the workforce.

The Michigan Career and Technical Institute (MCTI) offers hands-on vocational training and certification programs in various fields, job placement assistance and accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

MRS helps students with disabilities get ready for jobs after school. They provide support in varied areas, including career training, advice on job choices, help with obtaining certifications, and assistance with adjustments needed for college and work environments.

Michigan Works! offers support to help people find jobs. They provide guidance for choosing a career, training to develop important skills, and assistance in getting hired. This helps individuals with disabilities get ready for work and find employment opportunities.

Peckham, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities find jobs and develop their skills. They provide hands-on training in different fields like manufacturing, IT, and customer service, along with support to help people succeed in their jobs. 

Project SEARCH Michigan is a transition-to-work program that provides young adults with disabilities with immersive internship experiences within host businesses. Through hands-on job training, skill-building, and support from job coaches, participants gain valuable workplace skills to prepare for competitive employment. 

United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan (UCP Michigan) supports vocational training by offering job readiness resources, career planning, and advocacy for workplace accommodations, helping individuals with disabilities achieve employment and independence.
