Spartan Works

Program Overview

Spartan Works is an 8-week summer work-based learning program designed for high school students aged 15 to 21 who are on a certificate track. This program emphasizes hands-on experiences and includes a dedicated soft skills class to help participants develop the foundational skills needed for success in the workforce.

Through partnerships with Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP), MSU Athletics, Residence Education and Housing Services, and Culinary Services, Spartan Works provides real-world exposure to a variety of career paths. Participants gain valuable work experience at actual jobs on the MSU campus, ranging from office skills and nutrition to sustainable farming and sports management.

Get Involved

If you are interested in participating in Spartan Works, the first step is to connect with your Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) or Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) counselor. They are there to support you and can help you understand if you are eligible for services. If you're already working with MRS, they can also help you see if this program is the right fit for your needs.

If you haven't contacted MRS or BSBP yet, please know that the eligibility process might take up to three months. Starting this process early can facilitate a smoother transition. We are here to assist you at every stage.
