MSU STRIDE Center
Services, Training, and Research for Independence and Desired Employment
Thrive at Work is a summer program that lasts four weeks and takes place in the Lansing/East Lansing area. It’s specially designed for high school students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP). This hands-on class helps young people learn important job skills, gain real-world knowledge, and build their confidence. The program covers a variety of topics like professionalism, how to communicate effectively, writing resumes, and more. Thrive at Work aims to set students up for success in future jobs and personal development.
If you are interested in participating in Spartan Works, the first step is to connect with your Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) or Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) counselor. They are there to support you and can help you understand if you are eligible for services. If you're already working with MRS, they can also help you see if this program is the right fit for your needs.
If you haven't contacted MRS or BSBP yet, please know that the eligibility process might take up to three months. Starting this process early can facilitate a smoother transition. We are here to assist you at every stage.
